Inner workings...
OK, so I get to go to Chicago [actually Elgin] Illinois tomorrow [Thur] for get this...
a company picnic.
That's right, they're packing up most of our entire office, anyone who wanted to go [I think 13 out of 20 peeps], flying us out, hotel rooms, couple of rental cars to drive us all around, we go to a big group meeting at the Illinois office at 12 Noon, then off to a nearby park for a company picnic...Yay [can you sense the dripping sarcasm?]
Normally, I NEVER would go to one of these things.
Its not that I don't like my co-workers, they're nice people [somewhat stupid, but nice], but they're co-workers!?! They're just as capable of pissing me off as pleasing me as stabbing me in the back. Sometimes all in the same hour, which takes talent I admire!
So normally, I'm the sullen one who wants no part of these mamby-pamby ass kissing, team building things. But I jumped on this one when it was announced a few weeks ago, I figured WTF, its a free flight and free frequent flier miles if nothing else right?
Ugh, but boy am I regretting it now. Some nitwit decided we ought to do a skit, to introduce ourselves to all these Illinoisans who have NO F-in idea what we do apparently. "Who are we?" I so want to do a Sam Kinison rant..."We're the one waiting for you F-ers to take some of this work off my desk! That you were supposed to take back in FEBRUARY!" [Sorry, trying to hide the bitterness, cant you tell?!]
Anyways, someone else decided this skit should come with hats & shirts! WTF! I can't get a damn raise, but someone can fly all of us to F-in Chicago! And buy us a $2 t-shirt!?! [Really, repressing the inner-Sam Kinison now]
Ugh, man, so if anyone wants too, feel free to call my cell about 2-3 PM onward Thursday afternoon and take my blood pressure over the phone, hopefully by then, I'll be sullenly sitting under a shady tree trying to look interested in the goings on around me, but secretly wishing I was ANYWHERE else.
Maybe the weather will be crappy? Man, I feel like such a scrooge, and I hate myself for it.
Hope your work week is going better than mine folks.

You realize the whole point of this exercise was to get you all to Elgin so you wouldn't be there when they showed up in Newark to pack up your shit.
(Okay, so bad thought that would be at least slightly funnier if I hadn't already been laid off once this year.)
Anyway, enjoy Elgin. Catch a cab into Chicago on the company's dime and hit up Blue Chicago downtown. It'll cheer you up, bro.
