EGADS!! Pondering 36...
Wow, its been a while. My apologies for that it, but its been a busy month - planning, coordinating, cancelling, replanning, dreaming, and other such fun adventures.
Lets see, real quick - since I've been away I've...
#1 - Been to a wedding in New Hampshire [Jay Kerns' sister] - was a fun roadtrip. Crossed NH off of the "states I've never slept in" list. NH is very, ummm, Green. Which I was bummed about, I thought the leaves would've changed colors there by then, oh well.
#2 - Been to a dinner at Nat'l HQ for all the "Founders Circle Donors" to the fraternity. Nice touch, fun affair, going drinkin with NC afterwards was most fun of all. Nice to just have some brotherhood for an evening.
#3 - Tried to do a Phillies game on Labor Day "winging it". Meaning I got six of us to go, but I didn't know I had six until an hour before gametime, cause I thought I might have seven-nine peeps cause folks did the partial RSVP thing. Long story short, didnt get INTO the game, DID get into the bar at the stadium to get food & drink. Admittedly not the best situation [can I help it if 10,000 other people had the same idea I had!?!] Lesson learned - don't invite anyone, just go buy a ticket for yourself and just go to the damn game - less hassle.
#4 - Seen my second boss in four months resign from my department. I may get put in charge by default this time. My fellow underlings all want to promote me, which is a nice sentiment, but I don't know if I really want the grief. Then again, two more weeks of vacation a year and a salary bump will make me rethink my current negativity. Now its just up to me to convince the boss[es] to actually promote me.
#5 - Deal with boss' announcement on the day after your dad is hospitalized with pnuemonia and a "possible" mild heart attack. ARGH!!!!
#6 - Dad's hospitalization story will take up at least one really long post, which I'll try to do soon for you [my faithful readers] as I can, but, my primary rant, for now is this...
Why can't Doctors cheat?
Dad gets wheeled into the ER. ER nurse asks him shitload of questions - what are your symptoms, what drugs do you take, personal medical history, family's medical history, etc., etc.
Then the ER doc asks the SAME questions.
Then after a chest Xray determines the pnuemonia, we get ANOTHER ER doctor [the head ER guy] he REPEATS the same list of questions.
Then we get the pulmonologist [cause pnuemonia's a lung thing, so you gotta talk to "the lung guy" and he asks the questions AGAIN.
Then cause they find a heart enzyme count a little "elevated" they bring in the Cardiologist and his minions [its a teaching hospital, and I dont mind that], but this is where I get cranky, because quite frankly, I'M SICK OF MY SICK DAD BEING ASKED THE SAME DAMN QUESTIONS!!
Dude, go read what [pointing across ER to Doc #1] THAT MOTHER@#$$%%^& wrote down!!
Save us [ the patient and his family] some grief will ya!
#7 - Though, truth to be told, I did undergo one revelation at the hospital that partially explains the doctors asking everything over & over again. There are a LOT of mentally messed up people in this country, and you can find a LOT of them in ERs and hospital rooms.
THUS, I think the Doctors are SOOOO thrilled to have a real, warm blooded, alive, normal sick person to interview... that they fall all over themselves for the chance.
and that kinda scares me.
Thats all for now folks. For those that know my Dad, he's doing better as of this writing, but he's still in the hospital, so keep him [& us] in your thoughts and prayers.
Thanks

Consider the thoughts and prayers done. Hope he gets out of the hospital quickly. And Happy Belated Birthday :-)
