Commodity! A greedy little tale...
I've discovered what I want from the Genie in the lamp!
I want to control a commodity!
You know, one of those things you CAN NOT do without.
Like Gasoline, or Electricity, or the Water Co!
Remember how you could really prolong a game of Monopoly as a kid if you owned those properties?! Annoy all your friends! Well the new Modern Monopoly Board should have an Oil Refinery Space on it. Gas here has gone from $2.55/gal to $3.20/gal for cheap unleaded [the only kind of gas you need] in under 48 hours.
A funny report on the radio today had a economist on and he said roughly" If 1/4 of all the dairy cows died tomorrow, would the price of milk go up? Yes. Would it be insane? [like gas] No. Why? Cause huge numbers of people would switch to OJ or water or something else to wash down there cereal & eggs. Unfortunately with fuel oil, gasoline, natural gas, we just don't have an Option B"
Smartest thing I've heard on the radio all year!
So, yeah, uh, I want to be the Rockefeller or J. Pierpont Morgan or Carnegie of the 21st century, i need to control a commodity!
Muahahahahaha!

Too true, Finn. It's really too bad brotherhood's not a commodity, because you'd certainly corner the market on that one.
This whole thing has really gotten me feeling helpless and a little bit scared for probably the first time ever. It's not that I'm worried about a hurricane and a flood in Lexington, but there's so many other disasters that could happen that we'd have absolutely no control over. And to watch the fabric of society break down the way it has in the Gulf region, it really blows me away.

Bro, I agree, I drive along the Delaware river every day and now think... "What if?" Granted Philly, or Wilmington, or Newark, DE aint below sea level, but still a cane of that size and power would Fubar PA-NJ-DE if it roared right up the river, last cane to do that btw was Agnes in '69 or '70. So it CAN happen, because it HAS happened.
Very scary stuff.
