HOLY TWO WEEKS BATMAN!!
Ok, faithful blog readers [all 4 of you?], I know, I know, I have been remiss.
So, what have I been up to?
Hmm, two weekends ago was the big Finnegan clan invades Hersheypark road trip! Hmm, chocolate :) Eight adults, two kids, two cars, over $300 combined admissions expense paid...whew. It was fun, i went on no rides, the whole weight limit thing - sigh, will be goal for 2007...more wheat bread, more treadmill time = rollercoasters baby! Mostly, I spent the time helping Mom & Dad navigate the park. The kids enjoyed it, so it was worth it.
[Aside to Karen - I wholeheartedly agree with your sticky bathroom post - nothing worse than being in a large public place on a humid drizzly sticky day and basically overriding your own innards until you can reach a more reasonable [nee sorta clean!] location.]
This past weekend was golf on Friday afternoon with a bunch of coworkers, ex-coworkers, soon-to-be ex-coworkers, and husbands of co-workers. Was fun. I haven't played in like a year and change, shot like shit - but the 18th's drive was beautiful, high, straight, 150+ yards - I'm no John Daly, but when I do rip one, boy it is a great feeling :)
Post-golf was the 19th hole - which for me, even though I had Joanne & Ayana to catch up to at the Irish bar, I had to stay behind and chat with the co-workers, esp. the boss, after all - gotta get the latest layoff scuttlebutt! Now if only I can get ON the layoff list - so I can get a four month paid vacation! Hmm, maybe I should have hit the boss again with a golf ball...
Then it was finally on to the Irish bar - stayed only about an Hour - not Seamus Kennedy's fault, by then I was just wiped.
Saturday got up, Ayana & I went to Joanne's to see her parents new place in NJ.
Let me explain something about NJ. Its rare that I go over there. I can get over a bridge and into it, in like ten minutes, but its like [*shivers*] icky. So it has to be something special to make me go. That said, Joanne is something special and it was a pleasant enough day and relaxing to go take the tour.
But you know how you get when you decide you want to handle as many errands as you can in one outing? So you even plot out a course - Go to A first, then hit B, loop over to C, hit D on the way home, YAY! All errands done! Well thats how I felt in NJ. My reaction was - well we're here, who else do we know that lives here that we should call and go visit.
Dont let the map deceive NJ isnt that big a state, and I was in the mood to travel anywhere within it, after all... I've CROSSED the bridge already to come here! Might as well maximize my stay? right?
So we call Melissa - nobody home. So we call Colleen Doc... YAY! Coll was home and YAY! Conveniently able to go out that night and why dont we come down to Somers Point and meet up?! AWESOME! GREAT! YAY for multistate roadtrip! Plus, BONUS, we're heading to the beach/ocean... wahoo!
Long story short, GREAT night at bar in Somers Point on the bay, great view of Atlantic City, awesomely cool ocean breeze [nearly to the point of wind burn, which I did NOT mind - felt great after Friday's golf]! And best of all - me, Ayana, Joanne, Colleen, Coll's sister Kelly, and two other friends had a BLAST! WOOT!
Driving home and not getting in until nearly 4AM...ok, that sucked. BUT! Was it worth it, brotherhood across NJ? = priceless :)
See you out & about in September!
