Whew! What a weekend!

Ok, so first some bad news...my ears never got the chance to bleed :(

Slipknot's lead singer's dad or something passed away and they cancelled their Philly shows, so no concert :(

But the rest of the weekend was on!

Went down to DC on Friday night, picked up Odie, met up with Lawton [aka Caesar], had a nice nightcap set of beers in our hotel.

Ran a little late getting to Kim & Mike's wedding. I was ready on time, the girls in there corsets...mmm, a little [suck it in] delayed.

Enjoyed the afternoon partying with the Capital crew mostly, all dressed in our finest renaissance garb [I have GOT to set up a photo hosting capacity so I can post pictures for you all!].

Then we went from the reception down to Georgetown for some more strolling and drinking and dinner, was a fun time, man I thought South Street in Philly was nuts, M Street in Georgetown gives it a good run for the money ;)

Then back home on Sunday in time to watch the Eagles get smoked by the Broncos. Boo Hiss!

Ah well, some weekends cant be completely perfect!

And now [drum roll] on with the big road trip starting Saturday! Jay & Finn's March to Atlanta! [And the South thought Sherman was rough! Hehe, wait til they get a load of us!] DC Saturday, Blacksburg Sun, Raleigh Mon, High Point/Kannapolis Tues day, Charlotte Tue & Wed night, cyas in Atlanta on Thursday!

Frantic!

Ok, so one of these millenia I'm gonna make sure I have like an entire year of down time....NOT!

So instead, I get weekend's like this one's going to be...

Tomorrow - into Philly for the Slipknot show at the Electric Factory! Yes, I like my ears to bleed...sometimes. I also need to find the right finishing touch for my costume for Kim & Mike's wedding near Dulles, outside DC on Sat.

Yes, thats right I'm road trippin again. And yes, its in costume! All renaissance-esque period gear, guests included. I'm going as a really large Harry Potter. Maybe I'll call myself Hagridore!

But I've got the robe & cool hat, I need either a wand or a crystal ball to finish the costume up right. Need to shop some more tomorrow, found nothing tonight.

Anyways, I'll try to upload a pic or two...

Take care all

The Four Horseman Nearly Ride Again [And Other Tall Tales]

Ah, what a weekend! The Four Horseman have several meanings and permutations. For me its whenever me, my brother Jim, Nick, & Schulz go out drinking. Jim, sadly, wasnt along, but my other brother, Joe, came out and filled in quite admirably on Friday night. We started at Barnaby's, just us guys being guys, which means stupid, childish, and oh yeah, fueled by beer :)

Let's see there was the chick with no ass. I swear to God, tight hip hugging jeans, and right whered you expect to see plumber's crack or the top of a thong, there was... just bare skin, I mean medically we were beginning to doubt whether this girl we saw could shit, she had no ass! Maybe she was an alien, who knows

Then we decided to change bars to go meet up with Nick's new girlfriend [news!] and her sister's. Ordinarily, not a big deal, but then Schulz makes the scary declaration... "Denny's when we close the bar!"

Ugh! So yeah, for the first time in a while, I not only, closed a bar at 2AM, but then yes, found myself in a Denny's at 3AM. That hasn't happened since GC I think.

Which all by itself wouldnt be bad, but then, I had to get up at 7AM to drive to Jay's, cause I went to Alpha Mu's formal in Wheeling, WV!

The formal was fun, but the cross state drive in the rain I could have done without!

Anyways, so now it is Sunday night, back to the grind tomorrow. Joy!

Sick Day!

Bah Humbug! Ugh, I think all the late nights at the TV caught up to me. I drive home Monday night and I'm thinking, oh now, why is my throat feeling a little sore?

So i stop at a Pharmacy Tues morning, buy some NyQuil, and some throat spray and some lozenges, and go off to work [silly me].

Well by 3PM I'm thinking, why the hell did I come into work today? I'm openly swigging NyQuil at my desk [never a good sign] and thinking Christ my Blood Alcohol from the NyQuil is gonna get me busted on the commute home.

I made it home, but not into work today, oh well, went to the doctor, got some good drugs, tried to sleep but failed, ran a fistful of errands, and actually was here at the house when our new living room furniture arrived.

Which, yeah, mental note, dont move couches when your sick, you really dont feel well afterwards, so I'm off to bed now...

Cyas gang!

So much time, so little to do....

Wait strike that, reverse it.

Yes, I love the original Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory, too much. I made the mistake of channel surfing at like 1AM on Thurs night, and caught the movie as it was starting.

Yup, you already know where this is going, two hours later at 3AM, I'm fighting off all rational thoughts of going to bed to watch a movie I've seen a brazillion times.

And then after a fun but yet exhausting weekend in Central PA at Ryan & Katie's wedding [WAHOO!], I came home on Sunday night and yup, 1AM again, couldnt sleep, and found LOTR3 [Lord of the Rings 3 - Return of the King for you acronymically challenged]

Again the movie had like just started, so yup, because I could, I stayed up til like 4AM to watch a 3-hour movie I've seen! [once in theaters and now the first time I've seen it on cable :)]

So, yeah, now I wonder, its nearly 1AM again as I type this...should I even touch the remote?

Nah, wish I could but I'm not in college anymore :(

More to come later...after I sleep some :)

An observation...

You Were Actually Born Under:
You are totally loyal, faithful, and honest.
However, you don't trust others to be as ethical as you are!
Straight forward and direct, you really aren't one for small talk.
You are a great listener - and an agreeable companion when you're in a good mood!

You are most compatible with a Tiger or Horse.
You Should Have Been Born Under:

You are quick witted, charming, and bring luck to all who know you.
A bit greedy, you tend to go after what you want - with success.
Clever, you seek out knowledge... and eventually use what you know to your advantage.
You are very loyal, and you treat your real friends like they are family.

You are most compatible with a Dragon or Monkey.

Bills and nonsuch

Ah, the joys of cleaning out ones desk...

No, no, not my work desk [that would be a riotous affair, not merely joyous].

No, I just shredded about 2.5 years worth of accumulated bills documentation, AH!

I think I'm tone deaf in the ear closest to the Brrttt! machine

Hey, in case you didnt know its road trip and wedding season for the next month or so, by my reckoning I'm hitting...Central PA, Western PA, WVA, DC, VA, [pass thru MD], back thru VA to NC, hang out in NC a while, cruise thru SC, and on into GA for Convention.

Hmm, good thing the dry cleaner hasn't raised there rates, gonna be there a lot in between events with the suit :)

Later gang

Banker Holidays

Ah, the fun of the weekend...

Got let out of work early on Friday - felt like a sixth grader who got let out of school suddenly cause the heat stopped working or other such BS!

Got home - took a nap before I had to go with Dad over to Pinochle League at the church - where Dad & I got shellacked at cards, BUT I won $125 on the 50/50 drawing[this became a theme to the weekend, woe if I only KNEW it then, one down feeling, one up feeling]

The nap proved key cause I got the call to join Ryan's bachelor party in progress at like 10:30PM - which I did [yes, I've probably reserved a special spot in hell for myself, cause I took the $125 I won at my church's pinochle league to the strip bar for the bachelor party not ONE hour later!]

2:30AM - get home from bachelor party

11AM Sat - had some painting to do so I settled down to do that - BUT first I paid over the internet to hear audio of the OU-Texas game, cause damnit, I'm an OU fan stuck here in Philly and they give us like Michigan v Minnesota on TV. Granted the "little brown jug" is a cool trophy and all, and I like Michigan, and have been there for football, BUT the Red River Shootout's got that beat hands down, so I pony up the money download the audio feed, crank my PCs speakers, and start painting...

Sigh, never paint when your angry. OU gets smoked. I'm down again.

Fastforward to dinner - my brother Joe informs me that his often nitwit friend Devany was in Vegas and put $500 on OSU. This IN SPITE of the fact that Devany went to PSU!! The nerve! The Audacity! The Fool and his money soon parted! PSU 17 > OSU 10. I'm now feeling up again, thats right someone I know lost $500 on a legally placed sports bet and I took glee from it! Heheh, my special spot in hell just got smaller I bet.

Fastforward to Sunday - Big Day -Eagles vs Dallas. Cant make any other plans, gotta watch the game -ugh, OMG, the Eagles look like the F-in Bad News Bears....Dallas 33, Eagles 10 and it was worse than the score looks folks [back in the down mode]

Sigh, so now its nearly 3AM, I'm up way late chatting to folks and writing this on a work night no less, but AHA - its Columbus Day tomorrow! Bankers Holiday! No work for me! WAHOO!

So I'm now back in an UP mood, that and the fact that my Football & Hockey Fantasy teams are kicking ass!

Its good to be the king

Now if only I can win the $240 Million Powerball...

Happier Post!

Ok, ITS FRIDAY!

And its the last one I've got for a while where I am not roadtrippin or about to roadtrip, plus I got let out of work early, so there are many reasons to smile!

Gonna catch OU-Texas & PSU-OSU while painting a room for Mom & Dad tomorrow, more housework ahead, ah well, the price I pay

Take care everybody

Work Hell

Why is that with just a flip of a calendar page people think that's justification for making work a living hell?

Take my work...please.

We've been under pressure for months now that we gotta move up the month end close. Can't be done on Business Day 3 [Third weekday of the following month, get it. Its 10/5 for September 2005 numbers] anymore, no no, gotta have early estimates in on the 28th, so to get those, we close down three or four major computer systems on like the 25th to give us a day or two to number crunch to get the early estimates.

But those systems aren't aligned with all of our other key systems...like cash, so we have no choice but to be good little accountants and keep accounting for cash activity all the way until the 30th or 31st, otherwise, the evil auditors of doom will arrive and smite thee where i stand. Which is F-in ridiculous, from where i stand now, I'm knee deep in shit on BD2 [Business Day 2 sorry, vernacular]!

The auditors can't possibly smite thee into a worse pile of shit bigger or smellier than the one I'm forced to endure as it is!?!

Oh, and by the way, while your at it [closing the month and all] we need new and improved estimates on the 31st, 1st, and 2nd to back up our previous estimates on the 28th, 29th, or 30th, that the WHOLE F-IN company knows were garbage to begin with. ARGH

I'm beginning to understand the whole concept of going postal. I'm not there yet [relax], but i know my Blood pressure meds will be upped, to start.

PS - If by some chance I die at work, and you check your calendar and its a BD2 or BD3, yeah make sure someone sues the pants off my employer ok, because they will have put me in the grave.

PPS - Which leads me to my last thought... Why am i feeling the pressure?! I'm not the one who will get fired. I'm a peon. A cog in the stupid production of TDY-9 forms. [God, I hope you all get that reference]. But, yet, silly little nice guy me, I'm the one foolish enough to feel the pressure. And that's really pissing me off right now.

FLOOR SHOW!

Hi gang - so I went up to NYC on Sat to Alex's 29th B-day bash. Let me set the scene:

Dramatis Personae:
Me
Odie - travelled up with Finn
Ayana - ditto
Jeff S - allowed Finn's party to crash at his place in Hoboken [Thanks Jeff!]
Alex - The Birthday Girl
Jonah & Lauren - B-day party attendees
Patrick H - Another PSP-NC [for those that dont know] attendee
Gaggle of like 15 other of Alex's friends, co-workers, etc.

Surprise Appearance - Andrew Berman!

Place: A dinner/theater/club called SOBs.

Get your mind out of the gutter,it stands for Sounds of Brazil. And holy cow what a blast! They have this huge stage for like 10 musicians: drum kit, keyboards, other assorted brazilian oddities that make music, an accordian, an oh yes, FIVE bongo drum kits!

So as the band performs during dinner [get it, dinner show] they bring out these tribal dancer folks who perform/sway/sashay to the music, then drag folks up with them for some routines, or perform high style acrobatics during other numbers.

I felt like I was in Vegas at am over the top show, minus the topless showgirls with feather plumage. The music rocked, granted it killed conversation during dinner, but oh well, eat drink & enjoy! Its what we were there for!

Alex enjoyed it immensely, we actually settled a 23 person dinner tab without anyone being whacked dollarwise, which I was impressed at. NY drink prices though, sheesh, they've got to get real. $10.50 for a 7&7. Nuts

anyways, hope you all had a good weekend too
